William C. Smith

January 15, 1965 — February 6, 2026

William Carl "Little Bill" Smith, affectionately known as Butch to his friends and family, was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. Born on January 15, 1965, in Indianapolis, IN, Butch's journey through life was one marked by an unwavering spirit of resilience and a heart full of love. He departed from this world on February 6, 2026, at Livingston Regional Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.

A proud graduate of Celina High School, he carried the lessons learned and friendships made with him throughout his life. His career in construction, specializing in drywall, was a testament to his hardworking nature and his intelligent approach to both his professional and personal endeavors.

Known for his handy skills, Butch could often be found with a tool in hand, ready to tackle the next project or lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need. Butch followed in his father's footsteps in construction where his intelligence shined through in his problem-solving abilities, and his loving nature made him a friend to many. Butch was a Christian.

Butch's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a father to his sons, Brent Smith of Indiana and Dalton Smith of Kentucky, and his daughter, Janesa Smith of Kentucky. He was known as Pa Bill to his eight grandchildren that he cherished deeply, and the joy they brought to his life.

Survived by his brother, James "Bo" Smith of Celina, TN, and sisters, Diana (Rick) Griffith of Kentucky, Teresa (Tony) Kluesner of Indiana, and Kathy Davis of Ohio, Butch's memory will be carried on through the stories they share and the laughter they remember. Although preceded in death by his parents, Willie Henry Smith and Patricia Ann Beaty, his stepmom, Lillian Smith, and his brother, Robert "Bobby" Smith, the values they instilled in him live on through the family they raised together.

Butch's presence was a gift to all who had the fortune to cross his path. His ability to love without limits, to approach life's challenges with intelligence and tenacity, and to always offer a helping hand will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

In celebration of his life, visitation services will be held at Clay County Funeral Home in Celina, TN, on February 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
