Wanda Lene Maxey

Wanda Lene Murray Maxey was born May 6, 1949, in Glasgow, KY and she passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at her residence at the age of 76.

She was the daughter of Willie Estes “Lartin” Cherry and Bulah Estelle Johnson Cherry. She was a factory worker and a member of Union Hill Church of Christ.

Ms. Maxey was preceded in death by her parents: Lartin and Estelle Cherry; son: Sgt. Dennis Ray Murray; husband: Dennis Dale Murray; brothers: Joe Cherry, Jerry Cherry, and Dennie Cherry; sister: Glenda Cherry.

Survivors include her brother: Denzil Cherry of Red Boiling Springs, TN; sisters: Willodean Hestand of Whitleyville, TN, Brenda (Frankie) Carpenter of Moss, TN, Debbie Crawford of Moss, TN, and Jill Thompson of Whitleyville, TN; grandchildren: Sebastion (Elizabeth) Murray and Savannah Murray. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, 9 am to 2 pm at Clay County Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2 pm in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with Bro. John Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery in Moss, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Union Hill Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
