Obituary

Tommy Reecer, a respected heavy equipment operator and the proud owner of Reecer Construction, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 11, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1945, in Tipton, Indiana. Tommy led a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a zest for adventure.

Tommy’s career was defined by his skill and enterprise in operating heavy equipment, which he parlayed into successfully running his own business, Reecer Construction. His commitment to his trade earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tommy was a man who cherished life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed going to family rodeos, and he found great joy in camping—activities that reflected his adventurous spirit and connection to the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tim Tollie Reecer, his mother, Armella Plumlee Reecer, his wife, Linda Faye Rich, his brother, Tim "Kak" Edward Reecer, and his son-in-law, Billy Blythe.

Tommy is survived by his daughters, Teressa Blythe of Celina, Tennessee, and Tiffany (James) Atchley of Celina, Tennessee; his brothers, Truman (Kathy) Reecer of Bloomington Springs, Tennessee, and Melvin (Wilma) Reecer of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sister-in-law, Sue Reecer of Celina, Tennessee; brother-in-law and good friend, Edward Short of Celina, TN; grandchildren, Grayson Thomas Bilbrey of Celina, Tennessee, and Alex Bilbrey of Cookeville, Tennessee; as well as a great-grandchild, Bella Kern of Cookeville, Tennessee. He was also cared for by dedicated caregivers Nicole Davis, Clark Dillon, and Stevie Mackey, whose kindness and support were deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Ogletree officiating burial will follow in the Hamilton Addition of the Fitzgerald Cemetery.

His Bullwhip Rodeo Cowboys will serve as his pallbearers Brandon Atchley, Gerald Davis, Jessie York, Robert Kerr, Blake Goad, and Bill Parson.

Tommy Reecer’s life was one of enduring strength and heartfelt warmth. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. Those who had the privilege to share in his journey will remember him not only for his professional achievements but also for his love of life and the genuine joy he found in the world around him.
