Sally Kay Bonecutter (Nodine) of Celina, TN passed away in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, March 18th, 2026, at the age of 80.
Sally was born to Silas H. and Mable G. Nodine of Waterloo, IN on August 4th, 1945. She was the last surviving child of four. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Merriel (Nodine) Myers of Waterloo, IN, Patricia “Pat” (Nodine) Korff of Greenfield, IN, and a brother, Dr. Duane Nodine of Hamilton, IN.
Sally is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thayer “Ike” Bonecutter of Cambridge, OH; two daughters, Tamara (Wesley) Hanna of Hattiesburg, MS and Michelle (Richard) Aucoin of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Hanna Aucoin (Nolan Wilson), Adam Hanna, Cailin Aucoin (Patrick Chastain), and Lucas “Luke” (Caroline) Hanna and most recently , a great grandson, Liam Hanna. She was also especially fond of her grand dogs, Mable and Winifred.
Sally met the love of her life, Ike, while he was attending Tri-State University in Angola, IN. His career carried them from Angola, IN to Zanesville, OH, Visalia, CA, Hattiesburg, MS, Dyersburg, TN, and ultimately, making Celina, TN their home for the last 35 years. As a devoted wife and mother, she followed him creating a warm and loving home wherever they were. Sally loved entertaining. She was a gracious hostess and made everyone feel welcomed. She was full of wit and humor with the ability to make people laugh.
Sally possessed the gift of a strong soprano voice. In addition to singing in the choir, she also directed various choirs. Her greatest gift was her piano playing ability. She studied music at Defiance College in Defiance, OH. She was a classically trained voice instructor and piano teacher and shared her gift with hundreds of students across the country. Her music influenced many lives.
Through her love of music she developed a “mature” schoolgirl crush on the accomplished musician Yanni. She and Ike attended several of Yanni’s concerts. It was the music of Yanni that eased her through her dying process.
Because she touched so many lives, she will be remembered by many. She will be especially remembered and missed by her loving family.
Sally was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Go to God, Sally. Rejoice and let your voice carry among the angels.
Please feel free to join us in a musical celebration of the life of Sally.
