Richard A. Norrod, age 83, of Celina, Tennessee, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Celina, Tennessee. He was born on November 22, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan.
Richard was a man who believed in doing things the right way and giving his best to every task he took on. He made his living in construction as a masonry contractor, and he took great pride in the work of his hands. He also farmed and built houses, always willing to put in an honest day’s work and make the most of every opportunity. He was known for being able to squeeze as much as he could out of anything, and those who knew him understood that he never wasted a step and never wasted a dime. His practical nature, steady hands, and dependable spirit earned him the respect of many.
He was a member of Celina First Baptist Church and a born-again Christian, and his faith was an important part of his life. In his church family, he found not only fellowship but also a new extended family that meant a great deal to him. He valued the friendships and encouragement he found there, and he lived with the quiet strength that comes from a life rooted in belief and service. Richard was also a storyteller who could talk to a fence post, and his words, humor, and presence made him memorable to all who spent time with him.
Above all else, Richard loved his family. He was friendly, handy, and loving, and those qualities were evident in the way he cared for the people closest to him. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Norrod; his sons, Nathan Norrod and his wife Tammy of Celina, Tennessee, Eric Norrod and his wife Rhonda of Franklin, North Carolina, and Michael Norrod and his wife Aimee of Taylorsville, Georgia. He is also survived by his sisters, Marie McMillan of Kentucky and Carolyn Norrod Clark of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Johnathan Norrod and his wife Kate, Lora Johnston and her husband Ben, Jared Norrod and his wife Becki, Andrew Norrod and his wife Brittany, Cody Norrod and his wife Amber, Levi Norrod and his wife Pammela, Miranda Francis and her husband Nate, Adelaide Norrod, Sabrina Tinoco and her husband George, Cecil Norrod, and Stockton Norrod and his wife Alexis; and his great-grandchildren, Emalyn Norrod, Gracie Norrod, Luke Norrod, Cole Norrod, Lillian Norrod, Brooklyn Norrod, Mason Norrod, Cameron Norrod, Cayden Norrod, Rebecca Johnston, Jackson Norrod, Peyton Norrod, Alistair Francis, Ellie Tinoco, Ophelia Norrod, and Cassian Norrod. He is also survived by other family members and close friends in Tennessee who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Victoria Norrod, and his brothers-in-law Connie McMillan and Gerald Clark. Their memory, along with Richard’s, will remain part of the family story that continues through the generations.
Richard’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love of family. He worked hard, lived simply, and gave generously of himself in the ways that mattered most. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his warm personality, and the steady presence he brought to those around him. His family and friends will hold close the many stories, lessons, and memories he leaves behind, and they will remember him with gratitude and affection.
