Derrick was the son of April Marie Hale and stepson of William Gibson.

Survivors include his mother: April Hale and stepdad William Gibson of Celina, TN; brother: Luke Hale of Alabama; nephew: Elijah Hale of Celina, TN; niece: Miley Hale of Alabama, other relatives and close friends also survives.

Derrick’s family has chosen cremation.
