Bobbie G. Holaway, born October 19, 1936, in Whitleyville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center in Celina, Tennessee at the age of 89.
Bobbie dedicated her life to education. She began her career as a teacher’s aide before becoming a classroom teacher and later specializing in special needs education. Her work was not just a profession but a true calling. She was known for her patience, compassion, and her natural ability to connect with children of all backgrounds and abilities. Throughout her years in education, she not only taught lessons but also touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Bobbie faithfully attended New Hope Church of Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She embodied the spirit of a true Proverbs 31 woman, drawing strength, peace, and guidance from her relationship with God. Her kindness, grace, and Godly example inspired those around her and will continue to do so for generations to come.
She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found great joy in the love and companionship of her family. Her love extended deeply to her great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness. She had a special fondness for antique dishes, a passion she proudly shared with her great-granddaughter. She also loved jewelry, enjoyed regular pedicures, and found comfort in her cozy slippers—small but meaningful reflections of her warm and vibrant personality.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Marcella) Holaway of Celina, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Chatt (Lorissa) Holaway of Celina, Tennessee; Sally (Scott) Gross of Clearwater, Florida; Sonni (Heath) Hensley of Celina, Tennessee; Rolan Holaway of Celina, Tennessee; and Raelyn Holaway of Celina, Tennessee; and her great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Gross, Ally Gross, Ana Gross, and Alexis Gross, all of Clearwater, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewin and Lillie Allen Taylor; her beloved husband, John R. Holaway; and her cherished granddaughter, Sonni Dee Holaway.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and legacy during visitation at the Clay County Funeral Home in Celina, TN, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM with Bro. Jason Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the Holaway family is requesting donations be made to John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery fund by contacting the funeral home.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we remember Bobbie G. Holaway not only for her accomplishments but for the warmth she bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will forever illuminate our hearts, guiding us toward love and faith, just as she had done in life.
