Billy James Key

Billy Key was born on February 9, 1941, in Celina, TN and he passed away at Celina Health and Rehab on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the age of 85.

Billy was the son of Cordell Hull Key and Rosie Long Key. He was a member of Ashlock Church of Christ. He worked Holly Creek Marina for many years, and he retired from G.F. Harwood after working there for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Key that passed away on August 10, 2016, infant daughter, Shelia Key; granddaughter, Lizzie Key; brothers, Reed Key, 3 infant brothers; sisters, Naomi Key, Mabel Jean Key, and Betty Sue Sherrell.

Survived by: sons, David (Kenna Kay) Key of Celina, TN, Dewayne (Wendy) Key of Celina, TN; daughter, Susan Key of Celina, TN; sister, Nell (Mike) Smith of Celina, TN; grandchildren, John Spivey, Josh Lacy, Cherese Melton, Tyreke Key, Cora Key Rodehan, Angel Key, and Kimberly Key of TN; great grandchildren, Harrison Melton, Maverick Melton, Ava Lacy, Nova Lacy, River Rodehan, Jackson Spivey, Madison Spivey of TN. Special friends Jerry Henson and Barbara Watson from the Porch at Celina Health and Rehab.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Ashlock officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashlock Cemetery.
